The British International School Bratislava is one of the schools in the Nord Anglia Education group. It provides educational services for students from ages 3 to 18. BISB is an IB World School with authorization to use the IB Diploma Programme. The school was established in 1997. BISB has approximately 600 students that represent 45 nationalities.
Mission
The school mission is to provide an academically challenging environment so that students are prepared to become open-minded, responsible global citizens.
BISB has two buildings in Dubravka: one is for Early Years and Foundation Stage students, the other is for students in Years 2 through 13. Facilities include 3 science labs, 3 ICT rooms, 2 music rooms, a library, 2 gyms, a dance studio, basketball courts, a 200 meter track, an Astroturf football pitch, playgrounds, a canteen and modern classrooms.
Curriculum
BISB uses the English National Curriculum with some modifications for the school’s international students. The school uses a child-centered approach that stresses experiential learning and cross-curricular integration. Students at the age of 16 take the IGCSE examinations and then follow the IB Diploma program. English language support is available for students that are not native speakers of English.
Extracurricular Activities
The school offers a range of activities and clubs for students of all ages including arts and crafts, sports, music, student council and the Model United Nations.
Technology
BISB has 3 ICT labs and integrate technology throughout the curriculum. Most classrooms have ICT facilities, including smartboards.
