I’ve been working as a teacher overseas for the past twenty years. During that time, I’ve taught everything from First Grade through Twelfth Grade. I’ve also served as a principal in two schools. I started The International Teacher blog two years ago over at WordPress.com and have just moved the blog to my own domain.

Hi, I’m glad I came across your blog. I hope to one day teach in an International School as well. I’ll be working on my M.Ed soon and I’m debating between a program that requires me to teach 2 years full time in the USA and another program that requires me to do student teaching/ fieldwork in an International School. What experience would be more valuable when I eventually apply to international schools? Full time work in regular schools or student teaching in an International one? I hope to hear from you. Thanks!
Hi!
My name is Lukas and I’m also seeking guidance and resources on working in an international school. I’m currently teaching English in a technical institute in Chile, but would eventually like to make a career of teaching English and Spanish in an international school. Any advice? Are there Spanish teaching positions in these schools?
Thanks for your help and thanks for the blog!
-Lukas
I really like what you ahve done here and feel that it is a totally useful resource for teachers looking to work abroad or for those already abroad but who want a baklanced view of what a school can be like. I would be interested in speaking to you in more detail to see how we could possibly work together.
Thanks Simon. Feel free to email me if you have any ideas or suggestions.
I’ve just written a book called Millionaire Teacher, published by John Wiley & Sons. I wrote it with my international school teaching colleagues in mind. I teach at Singapore American School. Please let me know if you would like me to send you a free copy. I would be thrilled if you could review it on your site.
Thanks,
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
I’d be glad to review it if you would send me a copy.

Bruce
Hi there,
I would like to inquire about teaching art abroad. I teach Los Angeles and have never taught anywhere else.
Do these schools have an art program?
How do I go about doing that or finding that?
Thanks so much,
Samantha
Hi Samantha,
Yes, most schools, especially the large ones have art programs. I have an old friend who is currently working as the art teacher in China. You can find out which schools have art programs by looking at their curriculum and teaching staff. I mention art programs specifically only for schools that discuss their programs as one of their highlights.
Hi, I’m an experienced teacher with 18 years exp in UK, USA and NZ. I’m trying really hard to get a position in SE Asia, but seem to be getting knocked back at every turn. My CV is solid, my experience in KS2 vast and I’m a good all rounder. Can you offer any help or take a look at my cv/supporting statement to see where I’m going wrong. Any help at all would be welcome. Thanks.
Hi Michelle,
Sure, I’d be glad to take a look at your CV/supporting statement. Just send it along to the email address here. Regards.
