About Kigali and Rwanda
Kigali is the capital of Rwanda and has a population of around one million. The city is the economic, cultural and political center of the country. Kigali is located at an elevation of approximately 1,500 meters and is built on four mountain ridges, as well as the valleys between them. The city has a variety of restaurants and bars ranging from the very inexpensive to a few expensive restaurants that feature both local and international cuisines. Rwanda is located in the central part of Africa. It has a population of around 11 million. It is probably best known to Westerners for the genocide of 1994. The situation in the country has improved greatly since then, although the ruling political party has been accused of suppressing the rights of opposition parties. The country’s economy has grown steadily over the past decade, and tourism is once again an important source of government revenue. Trekking to view the highland gorillas is one of the main tourist attractions.
