Carol Morgan School was founded in 1933. It is a private, co-educational, college preparatory day school that provides educational services for students from Pre-K through Grade 12. The school has 182 teaching days. Carol Morgan School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The school has about 1,100 students that represent over 30 nationalities. About half of the students are from the Dominican Republic about 1/3 of the students are from the United States, and the remainder come from other countries. The school has 124 full time faculty members: half of those are from the United States, a third are host country nationals, and the remainder are from other countries. 93 teachers possess advanced degrees.

Facilities
Carol Morgan School has a beautiful15-acre campus in a suburb of Santo Domingo. You can check out the photos in a slide show presentation to see just how lovely this campus is. The school facilities include: 120 air-conditioned classrooms, science labs, 6 computer labs, an Optimal Learning Center, a gymnasium, basketball and volleyball courts, athletic fields for multiple sports, outdoor tennis courts, 2 libraries, fine arts rooms and theatres, and outdoor amphitheater, and a large cafeteria.
Extra-curricular Activities
The school has a full range of after school activities that include: sports (volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, etc.), fine arts (drama, music, arts and crafts, dance, etc.), community service, and academics. Activities are offered four days a week.
Curriculum
Carol Morgan School uses an American style, standards based curriculum that is enhanced by including the best practices current in international education. The school offers ESL for students that need it, as well as support for students with mild learning disabilities. AP classes are available for senior students. The school uses the traditional American three divisions of elementary, middle and high. Students take the ITBS and the SAT.
Technology
Carol Morgan School is committed to providing the most current technology available. It believes that technology should be used to enhance learning and integrated into the curriculum. They see technology as a means of connecting students with the international community. The school has smartboards, uses YouTube and Ustream, and has outstanding video creating facilities. The school technology curriculum is based on the standards developed by the International Society for Technology in Education. The school has wireless capabilities. Professional Development
Carol Morgan School supports professional development as one means of school improvement. Teachers are offered a variety of avenues to pursue professional development from attending workshops and classes outside of school to participating in the extensive in-service program to pursing an advanced degree. The school, as a strong supporter of the many uses of technology in education, provides extensive in-service activities on technology.

Carol Morgan School hires both local and expatriate teachers. They hire teaching couples and singles. Positions available are listed on the school website. The school attends the major international hiring fairs. All candidates must go through the interview process. Initial contracts are for two years. An application form is available online.
Carol Morgan is looking for teachers that have U.S. certification, at least two years experience and a Masters Degree. Salaries are not listed, but the school notes that they are highly competitive. The school uses a salary schedule.

About the Dominican Republic and Santo Domingo
The Dominican Republic is located in the Caribbean and has a population of approximately nine million people. The Dominican Republic is interesting geographically as it occupies two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola; Haiti shares the island with the DR.
The Dominican Republic is predominately Roman Catholic, and the official language is Spanish. The Dominican Republic’s economy is based on tourism and agriculture; it is a developing country. There are 500 kilometers of palm beaches on the island, which makes it a great place for water sports. The climate is subtropical and the average temperature is between 75 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, which sounds lovely.
The school is located in the capital, Santo Domingo that has a population of over 1.5 million people. The city has an active nightlife with shopping, restaurants, bars and casinos.
