Marymount International School Rome is a private, Catholic, co-educational day school for students from Early Childhood through Grade 12. The school was founded in 1946 and is accredited by the New England Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council of International Schools. Marymount is an IB World School with authorization to use the IB Diploma Programme.
Mission
The school mission is to help students reach their potential, know and love God, further the mission of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, and promote justice and human dignity for all people.
The school has a 40-acre campus on top of a hill in a parkland setting in northern Rome. Facilities include computer labs, libraries, an Early Childhood Center, a soccer field, basketball courts, a running track, playgrounds, five academic buildings, a chapel, a cafeteria, tennis courts, volleyball courts, a coffee bar, an art studio, bright classrooms, music rooms, art studios, fully equipped science labs, an auditorium, a faculty lounge and a dining room.
Curriculum
The school uses an integrated American curriculum. Graduates receive an American high school diploma. Students in Grades 11 and 12 may take the IB Diploma Programme. The school also offers Advanced Placement classes. Marymount has an ESL program for students who do not speak English as their first language.
Extracurricular Activities
Marymount offers a wide range of activities including Model United Nations, National Honor Society, music, drama, dance, cheerleading, soccer, swimming, basketball, homework club, foreign languages and more. The school is a member of the DoDDS Mediterranean League; varsity teams compete with other American and international schools in the region.
Technology
Marymount has state-of-the-art computer labs and is a wireless campus. Many classrooms have interactive whiteboards. Computer classes are part of the regular curriculum, and technology is integrated throughout the curriculum. Teachers receive laptops from the school for professional and personal use.
