The Colegio F.D. Roosevelt (The American School of Lima) was founded in 1946 and is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school that provides educational services for students from Early Childhood through Grade 12. The school is accredited by AdvanceED and the Peruvian Ministry of Education. Colegio Roosevelt is an IB World School.
F.D. Roosevelt has 1425 students that represent 35 nationalities; the majority of the students are Peruvian (55%) with U.S. citizens being the second largest group at 22%.
Mission
The school mission is to enable students to develop and follow a passion for learning and lead fulfilling lives.
Colegio Roosevelt has a 23-acre campus in a suburb of Lima. Facilities include a library/media center with over 40,000 volumes, classrooms, 3 computer labs, science labs, 2 gyms and sports fields.
Curriculum
The school is organized into an Elementary School, Middle School and High School. Colegio Roosevelt uses all three IB programs. In addition to the IB programs, Colegio Roosevelt also has a National Program for students who are native Spanish speakers or proficient in Spanish. A Peruvian Program Certificate is awarded upon completion of this program.
Extracurricular Activities
A variety of activities are offered to students in all three sections of the school including photography, organic farming, guitar, soccer, basketball, arts and crafts, track and field and more.
Technology
The school has three labs and over 500 computers distributed around the school. Most computers are networked and have internet access. Colegio Roosevelt believes in integrating technology throughout the curriculum. This is predominately a Mac school.

Salaries paid in U.S. dollars and Peruvian Nuevos Soles and are subject to 14% tax and 12% social security (which can be claimed when leaving the school). Benefits include a housing allowance and furniture, a relocation allowance, visa assistance, length of service bonus, disability insurance, transportation to and from Peru and major medical.
About Lima
Lima is the capital of Peru with a population of around 8 million. It is the fourth largest city in South America. Lima is located on the desert coastal area bordering the Pacific Ocean. It has a moderate climate due with two seasons: summer from December through April and winter from June through October.
The city is a financial hub of South America and is home to many multinational companies and major banks. Built in 1535, Lima still has examples of colonial architecture around the city such as the Monastery of San Francisco and the Cathedral of Lima. For culture vultures, Lima has the Museo Nacional de Arqueologia e Historia del Peru, the Museum of the Nation, the Museum of Italian Art and many others. Lima is known as a food center of South America and, due to the influence of generations of immigrants from around the world, features a unique blend of ingredients and techniques from many cultures.
