Qatar Academy is a private, co-educational, non-profit day school for students from Preschool through Grade 12. The school was founded in 1996. QA is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools. It is an IB World School. There are over 1,600 students studying in Qatar Academy.
Mission
The school mission is to offer an outstanding education so that students can become critical thinkers, lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
The school campus looks impressive and is located in Doha. Facilities in the Primary School include large, light classrooms, 2 libraries with multimedia resources, a 250-seat auditorium, a 50-meter pool, 3 indoor gyms, a multi-purpose sports complex, running tracks, computer labs, and a football pitch. The Senior School has a library/media center, large classrooms, 6 science labs, a darkroom, 10 computer labs, the auditorium and sports facilities mentioned above, 2 drama classrooms with stages, a ceramics studio, 3 art studios, 2 music studios and 8 practice studios.
Curriculum

Extracurricular Activities
The school has a wide range of activities for both primary and senior students. Some of the many activities are Model United Nations, homework club, concert band, literary magazine, Roots & Shoots, floor hockey, Readers Theater, Girl Scouts, dodge ball, arts and crafts, community service projects and more. QA also offers many sports and is a member of the Qatar Private Primary Schools Sports Association. Among the sports offers for students in the Primary School are swimming, boys and girls football, cross-country, basketball, touch rugby, netball and tennis. Senior sports teams compete in the International Schools Activities Conference. Teams include volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, tennis and track and field.
Technology
Qatar Academy integrates technology throughout the curriculum in accordance with its 21st century learning program. The school has a one-to-one laptop program for students from Grade 2 through Grade 10. Laptops are both Windows Netbooks and Macbooks. QA has a wireless network. They use e-portfolios. In addition to the laptop program, the school has ten computer labs.
Professional Development
QA supports PD for teachers, but doesn’t specify how on the school website.
Employment
Minimum qualifications for teachers are teaching certification, at least three years of experience and IB experience (preferred). Benefits include a tax-free salary, professional development, shipping allowance, furnished housing with paid utilities, international and local medical care, life insurance, disability insurance, annual flight home, local transport allowance, free tuition for dependents, one months salary for every years taught and access to the Qatar Foundation fitness center and pool.
