The International British School of Bucharest is an independent, co-educational day school for students from the ages of 4 to 19. The school was founded in 2000. IBSB is accredited by the Council of British International Schools, the Romanian Ministry of Education and is in the final stages of accreditation with the European Council of International Schools. IBSB has a student population of 270; the school accepts international and Romanian students. The maximum class size is 20 students.

Facilities
School facilities include modern classrooms, science labs, 2 ICT labs, an art room, a music room, a Primary School Play Area, an Early Years Play Area, a sport pitch, and a library.
Curriculum
IBSB uses the English National Curriculum as the foundation for the school curriculum and have adapted it for use in an international setting. The school focuses on Math, English, Science and Information Technology. Specialist teachers are used for subjects like music and PE. Secondary students take the Cambridge IGCSE and A Level exams.
Extracurricular Activities
The school offers a range of activities that include music, dance, swimming, arts, language, community service, chess, Kangaroo math, debating and much more.

IBSB has 2 ICT labs. ICT is one of the core subjects in the curriculum.
Professional Development
IBSB is committed to providing professional development activities for the staff so that they can provide the best education possible for its students. PD activities include inservice training, workshops and conferences around the UK and Europe, peer mentoring and external coaching.

Teacher candidates should be diligent, responsible, flexible, self-starting, team players with a good sense of humor. The school doesn’t list salaries or benefits, but does say that salaries are “realistic” and teachers receive professional support, excellent working conditions in a purpose-built school that has a strong community spirit. Cultural events play an important role in life in Bucharest; there are visual and performing arts as well as nightclubs, museums and a symphony. Bucharest was once called Little Paris.
