Fukuoka International School is a private, co-educational day school that was founded in 1972. It provides educational services to students from Pre-K to Grade 12. FIS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and College and the Japanese Ministry of Education. The school has authorization to the use the IB Diploma Program.

Facilities
FIS facilities in the western part of Fukuoka City include 2 computer labs, a library with over 10,000 volumes, an art room, a science lab, a gym, a music room, a playground, an art center and 20 modern well-lite classrooms.FIS has an annex that is about four-minutes from the main campus and has the FIS Arts Center.
Curriculum
FIS uses the PYP in the elementary school. The Middle School uses an integrated curriculum that prepares students for the IB Diploma Program. High School students earn the FIS diploma and may pursue the IB Diploma.
Extracurricular Activities
A wide variety of after school activities are offered including volleyball, basketball, futsal, soccer, music, art and many others. Teachers sponsor after school activities.
Technology
The school has 2 computer labs that use Macs.
Teachers are expected to have professional growth goals. The school will support teachers with 100,000 yen that can be used for classes, workshops or conferences.

FIS uses a salary schedule with 11 steps and 3 columns. The salary range is from 3,180,000 yen to 5,600,000 yen. Initial contracts are two years.
